I went to Chamonix in the summer as an 18-year-old. On the second day there, it was beautifully sunny and about 28 degrees, so we decided to take the cable car up to the top of Mont Blanc.
We got the tickets and entered the car, thinking it was funny that people were wearing their winter clothes and carrying thick coats. We were of course in shorts, t-shirt and sandals.
As the car headed up the mountain, we looked up to see the snow-covered peak we were heading towards. Only then did reality dawn on us.
Absolutely froze my balls off. Never been so cold in my life!
