Yes I'm pretty sure that is Vera, she has been referenced on here a few times.

The funny thing is, growing up in that era, it didn't seem 'odd' that a woman should be on mic. It is only because of the dearth of female voices, across most sports, in the following years of the 20th century that it should seem something worth noting in retrospect.

I don't remember her commentating on the other BBC tournaments of the day (a shame), so I would guess she was an addition to the team for the Worlds due to the extended nature of the coverage and the need for extra voices to spread the duties around that she was recruited. I'm not sure how long she did it for, or why she 'left' the role but she was certainly a welcome addition to the team.

She is not related to Mark, and is still with us at the grand old age of 90.
