This might be a bit too easy but it's the best I can think of for now.

Inexperienced horse

Not him I'm afraid.

Not Ricky Walden.

I was hopeful for that one, especially when I found a song called Naive was recorded by Jamie O’Neall. How about Gerard Greene?

Gerard Greene is spot on!

Naive = green and a GG is a horse.

I missed the GG part! The horse part of my guess was based on the famous racehorse, Brigadier Gerard. :-)

This one might be tough, and will probably require a little Googling.

Eleven Dees

That's a new one to me. :-)

We're looking for a player that is well-known.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Evelenses is a food break at around 11.

Mark Williams’ break-off is a big talking point.

Billy Dee Williams is a well known actor.

Mark Williams?

Clever thinking, but a long way off I'm afraid.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Perhaps this one is too dastardly.

The clue does not lead to a name, but something about a player. I do not expect anyone to know it off the top of their head, although there is at least one other Islander that might, but I don't believe he's ever posted in here.

I can change the puzzle or give another clue to this one, but I think the next clue will give it away.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Postby AlfGit

Here's another clue.

It's not Mark Williams because that would be seven dees, and it's not Ding Junhui because that would be eighteen dees. :chin:

Re: 2 Word Clue

This is the giveaway clue:

You do not need to look at anything outside of snooker to solve this puzzle.

(Also, McManusFan was perhaps the closest so far, apart from the last word which was totally wrong.)

Re: 2 Word Clue

Postby Iranu

Well Stephen Hendry has eleven 147s but I can’t work out what dees would be.

It isn't Stephen Hendry, but breaks are sort of relevant, albeit the other type of 'break'.

McManusFan almost asked the right question, but then he overcomplicated it.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Hmm.

D in Roman Numerals is 500. So two Ds would be 1000.

Ronnie O’Sullivan has made over Eleven hundred centuries.

Not Ronnie. It's simpler than that. It was admittedly tough to begin with, but with the additional clues it should be straight forward now.

I would be tempted to give it to anyone that can just say what the question should be, even if they don't know which player is the answer.

Does someone own 11 snooker tables (with the d on the cloth)?
Ding with his academy?

Yes! You have the right question so I will give it to you.

I was looking for Jimmy Robertson, who owns O'Sullivan's Snooker Club in Bexhill, with eleven tables. It was the 'who owns eleven tables' part that I thought might need Googling. Dees was not an abbreviation. Ding Junhui Snooker Academy has 18 tables, and Mark Williams Snooker Club has 7 tables.

Re: 2 Word Clue

OK great clue.I just realised you already ruled out Ding! How very daft of me.

Next clue:
Messy Caul

Re: 2 Word Clue

Neil Robertson

Luca Brecel

If you mess up 'caul' just right, you get Luca.

I was thinking along the same lines with Robbo. A caul can be a kind of hairnet, which is an anagram of the rain, which led me to the Thunder from Down Under.

Yours is most likely correct. I overthought it :chuckle:
