Nope
Oh well, I'll let everyone browse who's playing in the qualifiers & if no-one still gets it I'll provide the super easy 2 word clue for the same player.

I have been through the qualifiers list several times already. All I can think is that it is a Chinese translation of something.

I was thinking about Amine Amiri, the Ami being ‘friend’. But I didn’t really give it much thought. Is he even in the qualies?

Yes, he is. I have probably memorised the entire list now.

Stephen Hendry?
He is literally 'playing in the qualifiers'. (I can't see it
).

Oliver Lines?
Oliver was a boy in Charles Dickens' novel.
Line of business.

No, not Lines. Either of them. Good heavens man, you're actually saying the word and still not finding it!

If the word is 'boy', I figured that it was relevant. Harry Potter is a boy, a buoy floats, and boy scouts. I just cannot find a link with a qualifier other than Stephen Hendry who was the Wonder Bairn.

He is also still a boy himself, which was supposed to be a big clue if you were just looking for a boy of any kind

Great clue LDS, I especially like the floating bit. I thought of Buoy ages ago, but didn't think of the boi spelling!
Anyway, here's the next one:

Alex Higgins?
He was from Ireland (Island).
Hurricane Sally was an Atlantic storm last year.

Jimmy Robertson?
He did an interview for the Snooker Island forum, so you could say he’s a friend of the Island...

Not Alex Higgins or Jimmy Robertson.
I wish my clue were half as clever as that reasoning Prop!
