Bingo! The Tunguska Event was a huge explosion in 1908, the largest in recorded history on earth. The key thing is what it left behind - a crater.
‘Adjusted’ hints at an anagram, and quite a simple one. Crater becomes Carter.
All yours, Alf

I first went through the names of all the asteroids looking for an anagram.

I've only ever known Tunguska for that asteroid explosion, so I did kind of, but I do not believe that a crater has ever been found there so I didn't think of it until you mentioned Yellowstone.

Yes, I realised this after I posted it! I always assumed it had left a crater, but it turns out I assumed incorrectly. I slipped Yellowstone in after realising

Sorry, it isn't Shaun Murphy. It's a little more obscure than that, but not much.

Sorry, not Mike Hallett either. This is something specific to Penn & Teller rather than magicians in general.

John Virgo? He's played a lot of trick shots in his time, and Penn and Teller featured on Run DMC's "it's tricky".

When my son was 12, Virgo picked him to help with a trick shot. The shot totally failed and Virgo then unfairly blamed it on my son!
Good thinking about trick shots, but they are not relevant.

I’m not really that familiar with Penn & Teller, but apparently they did a show called Wizard Wars. So I’ll have a stab at John ‘The Wizard of Wishaw’ Higgins.
Knowing Alf’s style, I doubt it’s that simple!

Penn & Teller both went t-total a while back, as did Ronnie. Thought it was worth a random stab.

No, it isn't John Higgins, but I think you are getting closer.

I don't think you need to be a particularly big fan to get this. It's quite mainstream.

Mark Selby?
Penn and Teller did the show Fool Us!
A Fool is also a Jester which is Selby’s nickname.

You're quite warm, but it isn't Mark Selby.
The connection between Penn & Teller and the player is rather a visual one.
