Slingshot aquatic

Re: 2 Word Clue

Unrelated to the quiz, but does anybody else think Roger Federer looks like Quentin Tarantino?

This is a bit of a punt, is it David Lilley?

David as in David and Goliath hence slingshot, and Lilley as in water lily - an aquatic plant.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Postby Iranu

That’s a remarkably good guess but not quite right.

Re: 2 Word Clue

Not such a sweet sound as Grace

Re: 2 Word Clue

LDS is correct.

Slingshot as in David & Goliath, aquatic as in “gill”.

Sorry, correct

Re: 2 Word Clue

Yay!

Next one is:

English kid

Billy Joe Castle?

Billy the kid

To kid is to joke (JoeC, phonetically)

And plenty of castles in England!

Also, kid had me thinking of goats. So naturally, the English GOAT would be Ronnie.

I expect neither to be correct <laugh>

Re: 2 Word Clue

Yeah, I was thinking of Billys, but Joe Castle would never have entered my memory banks, I was trying to work out how to make Billy Snaddon fit earlier, but nothing beyond Kid-Billy came to mind in that regard. You've convinced me of Joe Castle, even if it's wrong <laugh>

Re: 2 Word Clue

Postby McManusFan

Could it be English as in side? Side can mean a camp (like a faction). Kid can refer to a goat, goats sometimes where bells. So I'll go John Campbell

Prop takes it. It was Ronnie.

Of the three possible GOATs, Hendry, Davis and O'Sullivan, Ronnie is the baby, the kid. English to distinguish him from Hendry.

Billy Castle a very good shout of course. It could well have been him. And I love the rationale behind John Campbell! Brilliant stuff

Sorry, bit late getting back to this!

I’ll do an easy one to keep things rolling, cryptic crossword style.

Arid fowl.
