Bit early for any Quinten Hann-igans…
Could be Hicks beating the Nugget in the 1st round of the Worlds, 10-8 I think it was.

Not Knowles or Davis. As noted above, it was a second round match.
First letter of Hicks' opponent surname is a T.

World championship semi final between 2 big players. One was a former world champion. The opponent had become a very consistent player in the last 5 years or so and had won some big titles. It was just the World championship missing for him. He would win this tight semi final and go on to win the world championship.

Ranking event final in the Far East... the losing player led by 4 frames with 5 to play, and ended up losing the final to the other.

1992 Dubai Classic between Hendry and Parrott? I know Hendry lost it 9-8 but I'm not sure if he was 4 frames up in that match.

Ranking final between the home favourite (his country not sure about city) and a decent top 16 player. The home favourite raced into a 4-1 lead. The opponent won the next 8 frames to win 9-4 to clinch his last ranking title to date.
