His concerns aren't entirely unwarranted.

Would be hilarious if they did fill the gap with Championship League and Hamilton went on to win it and then claimed the event was just as important as a triple crown event.

There's eleven ranking events this season where every player on the tour can enter. But two of those are the Championship League and Shootout. There lots of complaints on twitter about the lack of tournaments in Europe but there's still two events there for now. Apart from China most of the events that have gone are PTC type events which a lot players didn't like but in some cases they might miss them now. The layout of the calendar is poor although a lot of that is due to the disruption from the World Cup being on. The WGP should be in the first half of the season and the English Open in the second. It would at least balance things out a bit better.

I don't often agree with Anthony Hamilton, but he is right about this. Snooker is in a very precarious position now. The match-fixing scandal, the collapse of tournaments, the ages of the top players,....
All of us should consider where snooker will be in 10 years' time. We need to fight for it.

He is not right about this, not even close in Hong Kong snooker commanded audience of 9000. in the Masters it was full every session Viewing figures is brilliant for the sport that what declining means if all that disappears, not if a player can get his cue out as much as they want.
There are problems but unless hes in a coma he should know there are World Problems that affect a lot of people not just snooker players.

True, it's natural for someone who is affected personally by something to feel that everyone else is screwed.

To be fair those are two tournaments that (at least mainly) showcased the top stars, most of whom are 40+. And Hong Kong was the first tournament in however long - wouldn’t be sustainable on a regular or even semi-regular basis.

Business is booming in Essex.
Big crowds there in December. Tickets went on sale in January for the 2023 English Open, such was demand.

The problem is Anthony only won 10 matches all reason and apart from the 6 Reds not won any match since the UK and not qualified for Germany or Welsh Open
Stephen Maguire only 9 but he has Qualified for the Welsh there are problems can't get away from that. But if you don't Win Matches you haven't got earning Opportunities, Mark Allen got 500K Good Luck earning that as a Nurse even a Doctor.

The issue is that there aren't that many playing opportunities in the second half of the season to turn it around. If it weren't for the Turkish replacement (classic?) there's nothing for some people until the worlds. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have all the qualifiers way in advance this year.

It doesn't help currently that the China events are down.
I do think though, that the events like World Grand Prix/PC/TC are maybe a bit too close to each other in the calendar. Especially with The Masters in January. As good as they are for fans, they're not as good for players outside of the top-16, 32 or whatever.
Hearn bragged about opportunities, but they're not necessarily there for all.

also, on the 2 year money list
Hamilton - 90k (45k a year)
Maguire 127k (64k a year)
OK its not consistent amount each month but I could only wish to earn that sort of annual amount.
Its still good money when you do win games.

Joe O'Connor is nowhere near the Top 16 hes not even in the Top 32. But if you can still get in these events if you play well Milkins looks set to get in the Tour Championship, ANYONE can do that IF They perform.
