Dechawat Poomjaeng no Longer on World Tour

Dechawat last competed on the circuit at the 2023 Cazoo World Snooker Championship, reaching the second qualifying round in Sheffield. He has confirmed that he will not return to the Tour during his existing two-year tour card for personal reasons and we wish him all the best for the future

Had not entered any events this term, but now it is official.

Do you have to compete in a certain number of events?

Apparently he has confirmed that he will not return to the Tour during his existing two-year tour card for personal reasons. So he's given it up, basically. It's a pity. I liked watching his occasional antics.

A requirement of being on the WST is to be a WPBSA member? Paying an annual membership fee?

There might be something in the accounts and other official stuff. Someone else is no doubt better qualified than me to trawl through these documents.

yes, professionals are required to pay an upfront joining fee and on going annual subscription to be members of the wpbsa. there can also be a percentage charge on winnings applied.

relevant article form the wpbsa constitution.
24.1 A Member shall automatically cease to be a Member if:
24.1.1 he dies;
24.1.2 he fails to pay any joining or subscription fee where applicable;
24.1.3 he is expelled pursuant to Articles 24.2 and 24.3;
24.1.4 he is expelled as a result of disciplinary proceedings brought, amongst other
ways, pursuant to these Articles and the Rules and Regulations as amended from
time to time;
24.1.5 he retires or resigns as a Member immediately on giving written notice addressed
to the company secretary at the registered office of the WPBSA from time to time;
and/or
24.1.6 he ceases to be a Director and is not at the relevant date a Member of the
WPBSA by virtue of any other provision of the Articles.

the use of passive 'lapsed' in the statement suggests he may have just not payed up. though he had no intention of playing this season.

Yeah, that was after he died as well. Incredible post-death performance.

Surprised he didn't win the WC
