Davis ain't good enough to be among the top 10, he just ain't a heavy enough scorer.
Sure, he might beat most average players due to his superior tactical and safety play, and perhaps even the occasional top player, but never on a consistent basis, in order for him to have a chance at winning a major event.

He was ranked 11th in 2006/7, 15 years past his best.

He’d be another Selby.

The game is at a much higher level now, in terms of depth.

As soon as I get back to playing, I'll send you a video and I'll bring along a measuring device.

If he was a good as you make out he’d have more than one world title from 21 attempts. Peak Hendry wins in any era - he just didn’t accept coming second.

First of all, Robbo only peaked around 7-8 years ago, not 21.
Second of all, one cannot bring his A game whenever he wants. Plus, the Crucible shithole does not suit Robbo, since it's very crammed and he cannot position himself on the shot the way he wants.

Is that he kept getting beat by the class on 92 in the late 90s-early 00s ?!
Your boy Hendry had an average safety at tactical game that is no match for ROS, Trump, Higgins, Selbo, Robbo, and even players like Allen and Ding

Says the guy who thinks a player ranked 11th in the world at 49 years old wouldn’t be a top player if he was in his prime.

I stated FACTS. Hendry is no match for them in the safety and tactical department

The ranking criteria was different back then and there wasn't so much depth in the game, the standard of the lower ranked players is way higher now.

If he was suddenly transported by a time machine from playing 1980s opponents and dropped into the present playing today's top guys there would be a noticable step up in ability which he may have struggled with.

But if he was born later and reached his peak now he would definitely be a top player, all the important elements of his game would be there, the competitiveness , will to win, tactical ability etc. Other areas of his game would adapt to suit.

He is probably the greatest match player ever.

Keep reaching, kiddo.

That was my point all along.

Agreed, although I don't see him as being a top 5 player.

mick745 wrote:He is probably the greatest match player ever.

This I do not agree with.
That accolade belongs to either Selbo or Higgins.
