Championship League entries

Postby chengdufan

So the draw has been announced for the Championship League.

https://championshipleaguesnooker.co.uk ... stage-one/

There are 120 confirmed entrants, including 111 professionals and 9 Q School Order of Merit top-ups.

The remaining 8 spots are reserved for:
Asia Q School x4
EBSA x2
Africa x1
TBC x1

13 professionals have not entered (or are banned from entry):
Neil Robertson
John Higgins
Anthony McGill
Ding Junhui
Martin Gould
Liang Wenbo - banned
Fan Zhengyi
Jamie O'Neill - banned
Igor Figueiredo
Dean Young
Bai Langning
Stephen Hendry
Victor Sarkis

3 Q School top-ups have presumably declined their invite:
Sunny Akani
Florian Nüßle
Ross Bulman

These 3 absences gives the opportunity to Kurt Maflin, Michael Holt and Haydon Pinhey to enter the draw.

I wonder why no John or Neil. Good opportunity to get the arm going I'd have thought. No Ding either which is always a shame.

The big names play late to give them a few extra weeks holidays.

Good to see Fu has entered.

Stephen Hendry not playing is a massive mistake.

Every single player in the draw is guaranteed 12 frames, you're not guaranteed that in a best of 19

it would have been a good match practice opportunity for him. I still dont know what his aim is with his comeback. If he wants to do real damage or qualify for the Crucible (his own words) he needs to play regularly.

He can't expect to play well or even average without match practice, and that would be a good place to start.

So Jimmy may win the tournament.
