The first tournament I sat down and watched almost in it's entirety was 2002. Though I missed the last session of the final. Curses.

I'd watched a bit of snooker here and there, but that's when I started becoming a fan more. Nice to know I "started" with the greatest Crucible of all time.

I think that's pretty much the same with me. I did watch some in the 90s but not all the way through. 2002 was pretty much when I followed snooker properly.

I started watching (and playing) in the late 80s, but the first WC I watched religiously from start to finish was 92. I was absolutely heartbroken seeing Hendry deny Jimmy the title. I cried, and fell in love with snooker, despite the disappointment. Or maybe because of the disappointment.

1983 was the first World Championship that I watched. Now after all these years the World final is like a symbol of any particular year. I can remember them all, where I watched them, who I was watching with and what was going on in my life at the time.

Just like a song can transport you back to another place and time the World final does that to me as well.

True, but nobody else is dull enough to scroll through a pointless list, so now it's becoming a far more interesting thread about people's memories. Who cares if 83 had better last 16 matches than 88 or whatever!

OK the 90's weren't that great but even so.

I started wataching back in 1982

I mean I didn’t exist in the 80s so it’s hardly my fault.

My first World Championship was 1995 which was no classic. Of the ones since then I would go with 2011. 2002 might have been better but I was watching as much when I was a teenager. 2003 was very good.
