I found that a bit sad too.

I'm no Ronnie fan, but it seemed there were people out there who wanted him to win to 'stick it to the haters' rather than because they wanted him to win. Ali Carter made the following comment on Twitter; "All the haters, thankyou too, it gives me a laugh and you all get blocked..."

Shame that these 'fans' give the person they profess to support a bad name.

so Ronnie fans give it large cos the player we support wins <doh>

whatd you expect? :dizzy:

better than being a doom and gloom merchant like you who "supports" whoever is playing Ronnie rather than having your own guys to cheer on <doh>

and youve the cheek to call yourself Snookerfan? :fart:

Fans are fine.

Fanboys are annoying. I was referring more to Seifer types than I was to you.

Why are you that interested in what I did at The Crucible? I didn't even know you were there.

I never said I was there.

But Witz briefed me on your betrayal - how you ignored him and waddled up to bed, with a copy of Snooker Scene in one hand and a giant pork pie in the other. :-)

Should I have asked him to come to bed with me?

Both the same to be fair. Equally as annoying, and letting bias block their views. I just don't think there are as many haters I am some twats as some of the Ronnie fanboys make out. The commentators are up Ronnie's bottom, and the fans continually give him standing ovations and sell out his matches. Yet some make out that he's the most hated player in the world. <doh>

Scandalous allegations. I didn't shun Sonny, I spoke with him. :grrr:

I shunned the rest of you though. :D

Yes, the SnookerFan has been whining throughout the tournament. His whining reached crescendo proportions when O'Sullivan beat Robbo and he realised there could only be one winner of the world championship.

In protest, he announced he would no longer be watching his television - though continued to come back every five minutes with more anti-Ronnie drivel.

I don't have time to wade through all your posts to find the exact time.

Suffice to say, you promised to stop watching your television and instead stormed out of the house and over to the pub next door. You found you were still banned from there so you forlornly wandered back home and on to the forum. :-)

I must confess the barmaid didn't look too pleased to see me when I was in there earlier, but I offered to smooth the situation over. :D

Circumstances robbed us of a better tournament – Selby being injured and Trump getting food poisoning. Funny enough that’s two players that can stick it to Ronnie.

in Hendrys day you got a bye to the quarters facing total nobodies

That's a point - how did 8 seeds lose in 1992 was it? It must've been to do with the opening of the gates and the best of the first generation of new pros reaching the Crucible and killing some deadwood. Time to investigate....

Re: World Championship (Mon 7th of May) Final Discussion !

Postby Roland

1992 round 1:

John Parrott (no 1 seed) 10-0 Eddie Charlton
Tony Knowles (16) 10 - 4 Mark Johnston Allen
Dennis Taylor (9) 6 - 10 Mick Price
Mike Hallett (8) 8 - 10 Alan McManus
Jimmy White (4) 10 - 4 Tony Drago
Alain Robidoux (13) 10 - 7 Nigel Bond
Dean Reynolds (12) 7 - 10 Jim Wych
Gary Wilkinson (5) 6 - 10 Willie Thorne (then 17)
Steve Davis (3) 4 - 10 Peter Ebdon
Martin Clark (14) 10 - 7 Peter Francisco
Neal Foulds (6) 10 - 8 Jason Ferguson
Terry Griffiths (11) 10 - 8 Bob Chaperon
Doug Mountjoy (10) 7 - 10 Chris Small
Steve James (7) 9 - 10 Dene O'Kane
Tony Jones (15) 4 - 10 James Wattana
Stephen Hendry (2) 10 - 3 Stephen Murphy

So it was a bit of a case of the youngsters surprising the older guard but then you've got some old guard qualifying and beating the top 16. Don't know what else can be read into that really in comparison with this year.

for me, you just have to look at the rankings every year during the 1st half of the 90s to see what a transitional and franlly bizarre time in snooker it was

Thorne was back up to 7th in 1994, with Griffiths in 8th below him

I was arguably at my peak of being a snooker fan during Hendrys dominace and i know how good he was, but theres no denying as far as im concerned that his title haul is inflated due to a serious lack of competition.
