Tomorrow this 5-day event will start, comprising 65 players:

8 invited top players: Judd Trump, John Higgins, Mark Williams, Kyren Wilson, Mark Allen, Jack Lisowski, Ryan Day, Stephen Hendry

7 Chinese professionals: Zhou Yuelong, Xiao Guodong, Cao Yupeng, Yuan Sijun, Zhang Anda, Ma Hailong, Liu Hongyu

26 players from the Chinese amateur ranking list: Chen Ruifu, Mei Xiwen, Gao Yang, Bai Yulu, Huang Jiahao, Deng Haohui, etc.

24 qualifiers from regional events in Ningbo, Zhengzhou and Guangzhou: including Lei Peifan and, bizarrely, Eden Sharav

The location is the beautiful Huangguoshu region in Guizhou, famous for it's waterfall and extraordinary landscape.

Matches are best-of-4, there are 5 tables, and the event is broadcast on Migu and Douyin (STAR Sports). Nodoubt streams are available if you know where to find them...

The much-anticipated match between Judd Trump and Bai Yulu will be tomorrow at 7pm local time, which is midday British time.

Other decent first round clashes are Ryan Day-Xiao Guodong, Kyren Wilson-Cheung Ka Wai and John Higgins-Gong Chenzhi. Gong is a talented 16-year old pupil of Yan Dong.

Apart from that, the professionals should have an easy-enough first match. Lei Peifan might have some trouble against Liang Xiaolong, a promising academy kid.

I don't supposed this is televised anywhere, is it? If it is, I thought I might be able to watch it with a VPN and a bit of jiggery pokery. :-)

Day 1 results:

L128:
Zhao Shiji 3:4 Li Kai

L64:
Zhou Jinhao 2:4 Zheng YuqiaH (Chang Yu Kiu)
Qin Jianfeng 3:4 Jin Long
Gao Yang 4:2 Wang Xinzhong
Yang Guoqiang 0:4 Mark Williams
Li Jianbing 4:0 Barry Vestey
Wang Xinbo 4:3 Deng Haohui
Zhang Yang 1:4 Zhao Hanyang
Liang Xiaolong 4:3 Lei Peifan
Ren Jiaxing 1:4 Cai Jianzhong
Tu Xuan 4:3 Huang Ziyi
Luo Zetao 4:3 Tang Hewen
Liu Wenwei 2:4 Mark Allen
Judd Trump 4:0 Bai Yulu
Xiao Guodong 4:3 Ryan Day

Sadly, the Trump-Bai match didn't live up to potential. Judd Trump got 3 good breaks and won easily. The only 'top' player who lost was Ryan Day, to Xiao Guodong, but that's hardly a major upset. The favoured local players Lei Peifan and Deng Haohui went down 4-3 after leading 3-1. Highest break was Mark Williams' 124, and there were a couple of other centuries.

Yes, it's on Migu:

but you will probably need to use the VPN route.

Thanks pal. <ok>

Apparently state-sponsored North Korean hacker groups pay Womble a healthy consultancy fee for his services.

My former incarnation, YanFan, was a wizard at VPNs and jiggery pokery. <laugh>

Maybe, as a punishment, I should be forced to use my YanFan account again. Seeing as Yan, my favourite player, is now banned for buck knows how long. Typical. rofl

Day 2 results:

L64:
Chen Ruifu 4:0 Li Kai
John Higgins 4:0 Gong Chenzhi
Stephen Hendry 4:3 Zhong Lin
Lan Yuhao 1:4 Jack Lisowski
Qiu Yalong 0:4 Yuan Sijun
Huang Jiahao 4:3 Liu Yang
Li Zhen 2:4 Li Chengjie
Kyren Wilson 4:0 Cheung Ka Wai
Ren Zhijie 3:4 Li Yan
Chen Feilong 2:4 Yao Dongcheng
Yang Weihong 1:4 Chen Xiaolong

Lei Zhenyu 0:4 Zhang Anda
Ma Hailong 4:1 Yang Jiaxin
Deng Fuyi 0:4 Zhou Yuelong
Xie Jintao 0:4 Cao Yupeng
Pa Ruke 1:4 Liu Hongyu

Kyren Wilson had breaks of 131, 124 and 95 in his first match. The only other century today was 107 by top-seed Chen Ruifu. Stephen Hendry struggled, went 3-2 behind, but eventually overcame Zhong Li 4-3. There were no 50+ breaks in their match.

Tomorrow all Last-32 matches will be played, in draw order.

10am:
Chen Ruifu - Chang Yu Kiu
*John Higgins - Jin Long
Gao Yang - Mark Williams
Li Jianbing - Wang Xinbo

1pm:
Zhao Hanyang - Liang Xiaolong
Stephen Hendry - Cai Jianzhong
*Tu Xuan - Jack Lisowski
Luo Zetao - Yuan Sijun

4pm:
Huang Jiahao - Li Chengjie
Kyren Wilson - Li Yan
*Yao Dongcheng - Mark Allen
Chen Xiaolong - Mei Xiwen

7pm:
Wang Zepeng - Zhang Anda
*Judd Trump - Ma Hailong
Zhou Yuelong - Xiao Guodong
Cao Yupeng - Liu Hongyu

*main table

John Higgins, Kyren Wilson and Judd Trump will have slightly more difficult matches against current/former professionals. Stephen Hendry faces veteran Cai Jianzhong (one of the CBSA coaches), and there are also professional clashes Zhou Yuelong-Xiao Guodong and Cao Yupeng-Liu Hongyu. The last quarter is a really tough section.

L32 results, top half:

Chen Ruifu 1:4 Chang Yu Kiu
John Higgins 4:1 Jin Long
Gao Yang 2:4 Mark Williams
Li Jianbing 1:4 Wang Xinbo
Zhao Hanyang 4:0 Liang Xiaolong
Stephen Hendry 0:4 Cai Jianzhong
Tu Xuan 4:2 Jack Lisowski
Luo Zetao 0:4 Yuan Sijun

In the biggest upset so far, the 21-year old Tu Xuan beat Jack Lisowski. Stephen Hendry also lost, to Cai Jianzhong, who's almost as old as Hendry. Suffice to say Hendry didnt play well.

Elsewhere the results were normal, if not the scoreline. Yuan Sijun made breaks of 132 (the highest so far) and 118 in his 4-0 demolition of a decent opponent. Gao Yang played well but was outfoxed by Mark Williams. Wang Xinbo, an unknown Zhengzhou qualifier, had breaks of 57, 78, 59 and 120 in a fine win. Hong Kong's Chang Yu Kiu took out 'the top seed' Chen Ruifu, which earns him a crack at John Higgins.

It's looking like Higgins-Williams for the 1st quarter, with Yuan Sijun strong favourite for the 2nd quarter.

The bottom half matches are beginning soon...

Wang Zepeng 2:4 Zhang Anda
Judd Trump 4:0 Ma Hailong

1pm
Huang Jiahao 3:4 Kyren Wilson
Mark Allen 4:2 Mei Xiwen

Xiao Guodong 2:4 Cao Yupeng

At 2:2 Mei Xiwen missed the green, and Mark Allen pounced. Zhang Anda had a chance to go 2:3 but missed a middle-distance red. Huang Jiahao did really well against Kyren Wilson, but Wilson got a 94 in the decider, to go with an earlier 124. Mark Williams and Yuan Sijun also got centuries in their wins this morning.

Q-final matches will start at 7pm China time, 12pm UK time:

John Higgins - Mark Williams
Zhao Hanyang - Yuan Sijun
Kyren Wilson - Mark Allen
Judd Trump - Cao Yupeng

The really big clashes now!

Re: Huangguoshu Pro-Am

Postby lhpirnie

Q-final results:

John Higgins 4:2 Mark Williams
Zhao Hanyang 3:4 Yuan Sijun
Kyren Wilson 4:0 Mark Allen
Judd Trump 4:1 Cao Yupeng

Wilson steamrollered Allen, Trump capitalised ona few errors from Cao, Higgins was very solid, and Yuan Sijun started playing very well - as he has been throughout the tournament - but then suddenly got nervous and went 3-2 behind. But he held himself together to close it out.

The semi-finals and final will be played tomorrow:

John Higgins - Yuan Sijun
Kyren Wilson - Judd Trump
