Postby lhpirnie

The Russian 15-Reds International Championship was played from 24-28 August in Tyumen, Siberia, known as the "Cue Sports capital of Russia". There were 32 amateur players from 10 countries, including most young Russian players, plus players from Belarus, Tajikistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mozambique, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria and Iran. China sent a delegation comprising Deng Haohui, Bai Yulu and their Dongguan coach Li Jianbing, who also played in the event. Five of the competitors were women.

There were 8 groups of 4, with the top two qualifying for a 16-player knockout. All matches were best-of-5 until the final, which was best-of-7.

Bai Yulu won the first frame with a 61 break, and was never behind. So she beats all the men, and wins the tournament. The 24-year old Ivan Kakovskij, by far Russia's best player, had the consolation of the high-break prize of 121.
