World Games 2025 Chengdu (Aug 7-17) competitors

Postby roy142857

So the 2025 edition of the World Games will take place in Chengdu in Sichuan, China from 7th - 17th August. It features IOC approved sports that are not in the Olympics, or events from Olympic sports that aren't in the Olympics e.g. 'marathon' events in the canoeing (including the short distance marathon events, confusing naming!).

Two snooker competitions - mens 15 ball (10-14 August), womens 6 ball (10-13 August). For other cue sports, two Carom, two 10 ball pool and one Heyball (formerly known as Chinese 8 Ball Pool).

I see a list of competitors has been published, not sure if complete or if others to be added ? Wondering how entries were decided upon - anyone know?

Entries (12) - Mens 15 ball snooker

Muhammed Asif (Pakistan)
Kamal Chawla (India)
Mahmoud El Hareedy (Egypt)

Liang Xiaolong (China)
Xiao Guodong (China)
Sourav Kothari (India)

Mixed bag of entries as per usual. Kyren Wilson and Cheung Ka Wai, the most recent winners, two notable absentees.

A shame that these games directly clash with the Saudi Arabia Masters, in particular for Xiao Guodong who has a guaranteed place in the last 32 in Jeddah. Wonder, given that China are hosting, if the 15-ball event could be brought forward to the opening five days in Chengdu.

Thanks for the info.

It baffles me though why the WST, who have on multiple occasions expressed a desire for snooker to be an Olympic sport, didn't ensure no date clash.
