Easier draw for Reanne Evans than for Ng On Yee.
The best 2 players (Bai Yulu and Mink) are on the road to the Hong Kong champion.

Reanne may get the tour card.

Jamie Hunter is 2-0 up on Mink
Baipat is 1-0 up on Rebecca Kenna
Ng On Yee 2-0 up
Reanne Evans is 1-0 up

Yes, overall the scoring not too high. Only Bai Yulu's 105 is a significant break. But these matches are so short, it must be difficult to play their best.

The format probably doesn't help the top seeds. They came in at the L16 stage, whilst the others had 3 group matches and a L32 win to get warmed up.

Quirky fact from the competition.

Prior to the quarter-finals Mary Talbot-Deegan (eliminated at the last 16 stage) had compiled half of the fifty plus breaks (3 from 6).

Bai Yulu wins 3-2 against Ng On Yee, so Reanne gets a 2 years card on the tour.

We will probably find out sometime this coming week if Ng On Yee has entered Asia Pacific Q School

Deadline tomorrow. Still time to fill in the forms.

Final : Reanne Evans - Bai Yulu.
Both win semi-final 4-1.

Reanne back to WWS number 1.
The Chinese player will enter the top 20 in the ranking with only 2 events played (out of 14) and 2 finals. (at least)

Yes, Bai Yulu not playing anywhere near her best, but still battled through. She definitely lacks experience at matchplay, probably because she missed so much during 2020-22.

Reanne Evans knocked in a couple of 70+ breaks in her semi-final, which is the sort of thing she hasn't been doing on the main tour. She'll be awarded a new 2-year card because of this result, but she will need to start performing better to convince anyone she's still the top woman player.

Yes, just after midnight. It was a long day...

Bai Yulu was extremely lucky in that final frame. There were two important fluked pots and one decisive fluked snooker. Nevertheless, Evans missed some easy chances.

Perhaps after this win Bai can settle down and be a bit more confident in these tight situations. She didn't really play well, but somehow still managed to come out on top.

Yea her all round Game needs Work.

The most disappointed thing for me how her Game disappeared for the Semi and Final the way she dispatched Ng On Yee in the quarters going from 2-1 down to a 3-2 win with a 67 and 59 limiting NG on yee to just 7 points n the final 2 frames is un heard of in the women's game. But that kind of performance was lacking in the Semi and Final.

Yes but we have to take into account her lack of experience. It's the first tournament she ever played outside Asia! She played in three tough matches today, against established top women players, with 15 World Championship wins between them. It was a big tournament for her to win, and it can be expected for her to find it difficult. Give her time. Perhaps next season she can enter all the WWS events and establish herself as a dominant force.
