It really is innnnnnnncredible how Burden,as well as many other players just can,t get over the line,ok,he did,nt have the easyist of chances to pot the final black to seal the match, but he had at least 3 cracks at it but just could,nt pot it!.

Yesterday we had a midnight finish … add another 1/2 hour for us media.
Today we're gonna beat that easy! Can't see myself in bed before 2 am the earliest.

I think Alfie although a cool player is one of the worst under pressure. He seems so stressed and frustrated like no one else.

Home favourite Ken Doherty is 1 all against Kurt Maflin.
I agree with Phil Yates on commentary, that the shedulling for this event really needs to be reconsidered, cause this match will surely run well past midnight, and 6 matches a day with only one table is a bit too much, espeacially since a lot of them have gone close.
Therefore, even though it's their local hero playing, many people left the arena after Maflin made it 1 all. It still has quite a few spectators, but I reckon many more would be there if it was a bit earlier.

After trailing 3-1, Doherty pulls one back, but still behind at 3-2.
Maflin in with a 17 break so far.

So, there we have it, Maflin makes a decisive break in the end to pinch that 6th frame on the final blue, he wins 4-2, so no local hero into the next round, though they are still garanteed a player from northern ireland into the quarters in Allen or Swail.
The match just finishing 5 min past 1 a.m, very late indeed as I said earlier, so they definately need to rethink their shedulling.
Night all.

rubbish, I went to bed. I never thought Alfie would finish that off. After Judd won frame 3, I thought Judd would take 4 in a row.
