Assuming that the eight quarter-finalists got automatic invites to the main draw.

Going to be very interesting to see who's in the qualifiers as some you'd expect to play aren't in it. JP for example.

Re: 2012 WORLD SENIORS CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW

Postby gmg

Yes, bizarre indeed especially since it was mentioned during the draw tonight that Nigel Bond, Gary Wilkinson and Patsy Fagan will all be taking part in qualifying. Surely all of these deserved a place in th main draw over the unheralded Townsend even if he did play well in the event last year.

Eight of last years twelve invitees have been invited back (Davis, Johnson, White, Taylor, Thorburn, Drago, O'Kane, Knowles) whilst John Parrott, Neal Foulds, Doug Mountjoy, and Bond make way for Townsend, Darren Morgan, Mike Hallett and Alain Robidoux. Wonder why JP has decided to give up his place? Surely he would have gone straight into the main draw if he had been willing to play. Good to see Hallett making his debut, just a shame that Kirk Stevens isn't in the line up yet again.

Qualifiers include

Former World no 5 Gary Wilkinson
British Open and Masters Runner Up Dean Raynolds
Former British Open Winner and Current Main Tour player Nigel Bond
Former Asian open Champion and Current World no 47 Dave Harold
Blast From the Past 1988 UK Quarter Finalist Barry West
Former UK Champion Patsy Fagan
1989 Mercantile Classic Runner up Wayne Jones
Tony Chappell From Wales who reached the Crucible only once in 1990
Stefan Mazrocis Quarter Finalist in the 1996 Asian Classic
1990 Mercantile Credit Classic Champion Steve James
Former top 16 player David Roe

and you got Karl Townsend seeded lol

But the only way in which a draw like this can be seeded is based on the previous form in this competition. That said the draw's not seeded, only qualification is.

Strong line up in the qualifiers. Field of 40 in total.

he wouldn't be involved anyway hes not a fan of beinc called a senior

he was invited in 2010 when age was 40 and he declined.

Weird how Tony Knowles isnt involved in this yet he plays in PTCs and Q School.

Maybe hes also like Hendry and refuses to be classed as a senior.

Suppose it might affect his chances with 20 something blondes :?

Looking forward to this, was a good laugh last year and Sky are showing the whole tournament again. Wonder if they'll interview the players inbetween frames in the first round like last year?

Big shock with the exit of Dave Harold in his first match though no great loss to the main event, especially as I dont yet think of him as a senior player. Also surprised by the early exit of Stefan Mazrocis.

Good effort. :D I was going to weigh in with the old Less Dodd material we've all heard before. Will The Diddymen be in the crowd, that sort of thing.

thats only speculation and to be fair you have absolutely nothing apart from extreme fanboyism to back that rubbish out.

How do you even know I support Ronnie?

Because you talk rubbish when hes concerned

hardly rocket science.

First Qualifier is Former World no 5 and British Open Champion Nigel Bond

it would be Good to see Barry West Qualifying a UK Championship Quarter Finalist in 1988 and reached a Highest Ranking of 21 in 1989.

But Best of 3s are rubbish there's so many Bloody Whitewashes
