Respotted blue? Didn't see that Walden match so didn't know it. I guess, everyone goes for the pot straightaway then.

Is it me or does a respotted blue change the tactics behind a respotted conclusion to a frame. With a blue, there's a temptation to give it a go

I think that's the intention. God forbid a player be forced into a safety shot.

Basicially you could just roll the blue towards the top cushion but yeah, under these hilarious circumstances I think, nobody would do it really.

First day over then.

Still can't believe those decisions by ref Marcel Eckart against Harold but anyway...

Re: Snooker Shootout 2014

Postby kolompar

a nice day apart from Marcel
good to see Michael White playing well, the shoot out should be won by someone like him
Brecel and Lisowski both lost, I think they rushed some shots :chuckle:

What was the decisions that Marcel made

first Harold was snookered made a good escape, hit a red after 2 cushions but Marcel said it was a foul because no cushion was hit after the contact, ball in hand for Cope

that was the big mistake, then later Harold finished close to black after potting a red, it took like 8 seconds for ref to say if it was touching, with the 10 sec shot clock, Harold then hit the black and so fouling as it was touching

Re: Snooker Shootout 2014

Postby Andre147

And just to finish what kolompar said, that foul on the touching black cost Harold 7 points and put Cope 3 points ahead of him. Still, after a poor safety from Cope on the last red, Harold potted the red and only needeed the blue to win, but he made contact with the cue ball after the time was finished so, after reviewing that last moment, they awarded the frame to Cope in really bizarre circumstances.

The ref definately played a huge part there though.. <doh>

That mindset is why he won't win wc. Too busy trying to bend or break rules.

Sory folks but what has this tin-pot tourney anything to do with the biggest tournament of them all, the Worlds? <doh> :hmmm:

I don't think it's bending the rules, and some players, even the fast ones for that matter, do that if they have a good lead and feel their opponent may comeback to win the frame.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Worlds, and the reason he hasn't won them yet is certainly not because of this. rofl

Yes, I was about to Come Oon him too.. Just watched his 1round match on youtube, and so dissapointed he got knocked out. He really should had won that when he amongs the balls with a nice layout and 6:35 time to play. It is his enviroment to play really. He is so accustomed to that kind of venue and crowd pressure, and it always should be his advantage with the support he always receives also. He made only 27 with that chance.
However, Jimmy Robertson played some really good shots there must be said.

He couldn't exactly give it the big announcement as "it's just a bit of fun"!

"So ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the shortest format of the season...it's just a bit of fun...this really is one of the most significant minor events in Britain...most of the players have turned up and have already got changed in the toilet..."

Re: Snooker Shootout 2014

Postby Wildey

of course he could

"Welcome to the shootout from Blackpool a time snooker players let their hair down and have a bit of fun from the important main tour Ranking Tournaments"

that what it is so say it as it is.

Re. Jimmy yeah I was also gutted to see him knocked out, but that's father time I guess.

<laugh> Brilliant! It's definitely a trend (i'm not sure if a new one or not) but every sport every event that is happening right at that moment must be billed as the greatest spectacle that's ever been conceived.

Though I don't disagree with you that Goldstein is a pleb, it's probably Sky Sports that tell him to say this waffle rather than his own opinion.

He used to say the Premier League was a major as well.
