Pan American Snooker Championship

Postby SteveJJ

I see we are at the QF stage to find out who will be joining the tour next season.

The line up...

Derrick Claus v Phil Snache
Renat Denkha v Frank Ammirante
Vito Puopolo v Victor Sarkis
Jason Williams v Ahmed Aly Alsayad

I'm assuming Alsayad is favourite. But will Christmas come early for Derrick Claus?

5 Canadians, 2 Americans and 1 Brazilian

Semi Final Line Up

Derrick Claus v Renat Denkha
Victor Sarkis v Ahmed Aly Alsayad

Canada v USA
Brazil v USA

Surprisingly Claus is the only one without a nickname.

Denkha is The Flash
Sarkis is The Business Man
Alsayad is The King

Thanks for posting. Yes, it's important, since one of these players will be offered a pro ticket. They are not young players, but hopefully whoever wins can help snooker maintain its appeal across the world.

The Business Man from Brazil does the business and beats Alsayad!

Final is Renat Denkha (USA) v Victor Sarkis (Brazil)

Who was the last American on tour?

I see Denkha was runner up to Igor in the 2019 version of this. So has got within 1 match of a pro card again

I’m pretty sure Jim Rempe has been the only American ‘on tour’

Though both Steve Mizerak & Mike Massey participated in the odd tournament back in their day

Congratulations to Victor Sarkis who qualifies for the tour from next season onwards following a 5-3 win over Renat Denkha in the final.

Sarkis will join his compatriot Igor on tour and will partner him at the world cup (if it comes back on the tour)

Thank you, SteveJJ for the updates on this tournament

I wish Mr. Sarkis well on his forthcoming professional venture, and will monitor his progress with interest.

<ok>

You'd hope with that nickname that he won't have any trouble finding sponsors!

We hope that next season lower-ranked players do get to play in some main arenas, rather than being banished to qualifiers only. There's not much point in promoting continental champions if we never get to see them. Maybe his best chance of a live audience is in the UK Championship, where he'd likely be drawn against a top-16 player and get to play on a table 1 or 2, but before the BBC cameras arrive. Apart from that, it's only the new British Open (if it continues) and the Shoot-out (Nutcharut Wongharuthai only got to break-off in her appearence there).
