Actually no, they changed my table. I'm on Table 1, live stream on Facebook WSF page. Reffing Luke Simmonds v Liam Pullen.

EDIT: this match won't be on Table 1, my mistake.

Looking odds on that a former pro will regain a place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think Cooper or Stephens have been on tour before?

I'd like to see Si Jiahui back on tour. Wouldn't begrudge Michael White having another crack.

Daniel Wells seems to be in the catch 22 where he isn't quite there as a pro but is one of the best amateurs.

Aye, you're correct about Cooper and Stephens

Si jiahui is currently top of the Q Tour rankings, so is likely to get a spot that way. Even if he fails this week.

I remember Wells getting to the Scottish open semis a couple years back. He really should have beaten Allen.

This year's championship resembles a QSchool tournament without the pros that will fall off the tour at the end of the current season, and without the protected seeding system used in QSchool. The majority of the pros that lost their tour cards end 2020-21 found themselves in the bottom quarter where they proceeded to knock each other out.

As well as this opportunity and the QTour rankings Si Jiahui, the survivor of that quarter, is also just £2000 behind the tour qualifying slot on the one-year list (counting points accrued for the Welsh Open and Turkish Masters). A 19-year-old, experience already gained from two professional years, he appears a good prospect to establish himself on the tour. Best, though, to clinch that tour place ASAP.

Si Jiahui into the final, winning the deciding frame with a 67 break.

Re: 2022 WSF Championship

Postby SteveJJ

If Si Jiahui qualifies for the tour both ways, where does the second card go to? Next person on the order of merit for the Q Tour or the runner up of this? Assume it will be the order of merit for Q Tour as that will be the 2nd way he qualifies as it finishes later.

Re: 2022 WSF Championship

When Ash Hugill similarly won the final a couple years back it went to the second placed on the then Challenge tour ranking, who was Lukas Kleckers.

Actually ignore that, runner-up Boiko got a slot anyway as they were doing it that year.

Lee Stephens one frame away from the final, he leads Daniel Wells by 3-1.

To be honest, I don't remember this player doing something special at the amateur tournaments the last 5-6 years. And he is almost 40 years old!

Re: 2022 WSF Championship

lee stephens's fairytale continues. beats wells 4-2 to reach the final. one suspects si jiahui will have too much for him this evening.

Re: 2022 WSF Championship

final underway and si jiahui taken the first two frames, including a 63 break. does look a class above.

Is Lee Stephens the most honest snooker player out there?

Dominant performance from Si during the whole tournament. His presence at the buildings of the Pro Tour will be well deserved the next two seasons.

Well, Q School suffers from the problems of having 4 quarters, which each produce a qualifier, and also byes opening up in QS2 and QS3. This means the draw can be unbalanced. At least with this it's only the winner who gets promoted. So long as they don't award to a losing finalist... Probably the best two players were Si Jiahui and Michael White, but they happened to be in the same half.

Si Jiahui's 2-year spell as a professional was interrupted by covid. When he returned for the 2020 World Championship and then his 2nd season, he didn't look the same player. He might not have dropped off tour if it hadn't been for that.
