Pretty strong last 64. Not many left for whom qualifying isn't a realistic prospect.

Can't wait

the draw seems lopsided too. Too many good players playing early in round 1/2 and then a bunch of nobodies filling the draw - look at the bottom section for example.

I'll predict the final matches will be:

Lawler v Carty
Hancorn v O'Brien
Hill v Gao Yang
Higginson v Lam

I think spot 3 is weaker or more open than spot 4

John 'Rick' Astley won 4-0 but his opponent must of been late as it is not listed as no show but just 0-0 scores. Maybe Robbo was driving his opponent and they went to the wrong venue.

The one to watache Liu Hongyu is in action again this morning. How many centuries today will he get?

Think his opponent was Canadian. Obviously didn't consult Cliff about first class flights.

Assume its visa related as I assume the Pakistanis absences were

Section 2 looks the strongest.

Strong players throughout the remainder od the draw though. No easy matches at this stage.

What match are you watching?

Re: 2022 Q School 1 !!!

Lee v Liu

Lee won a scrappy first frame on the pink.
A lovely 100 from Liu to level at 1-1

Re: 2022 Q School 1 !!!

And Harvey Chandler seems in good form. Already 3-0 up

Yes, the Q School format is problematic. There will generally be 2 weak sections, and it's almost impossible that the best set of players can qualify, because of clashes in the draw. They don't use the Order of Merit for Tour Cards, but it's still important for Q Tour and top-ups. It's particularly unfair and will be even worse when byes start happening in QS2 and QS3.

yeah they should have seeded certain players so they have an advantage.

At least there is no Order of Merit this year to qualify for tour as that is when the byes are unfair as a player gets 4 points for a bye. So if they have 3 rounds of byes they collect 12 points.

Liu wrapping up the win now, 4-1. He didn't play brilliantly, in particular missing a lot of (not too) thin cuts, but he was too good for Alfie Lee.

they do seed some players. those who just lost tour cards and high on last year's order of merit.

it shouldn't be a straight knock out at all, let alone three knock outs in a row. it should be a single league with all participants getting a guaranteed minimum number of matches.

Yes, they should use a Swiss Elimination. It would be a heck of a lot cheaper, as players would play a match each day until eliminated. Under this system they have to keep coming back for 3 weeks.

I'm wataching Zhao Jianbo v Digvijay Kadian. Andre reffing this one.
The Indian in first. He made a good double to open the break, which ended at 29. Decent start.

Have Rod Lawler match and Lee Walker match been pulled off? Not on live scores now. They both only played 2 frames!

I thought thats why we employed Botty? To keep us up-to-date with scores

Botty needs the sack!! ;-)

Zhao made a good 55, but lost position on frame ball brown.
Kadian fouled twice (missing out of snookers) to take Zhao over the line

Apologies to Graeme. He did in fact confirm Rod won.

I will sack myself.

Re: 2022 Q School 1 !!!

Zhao's not been amazing, but he's a class above Kadian. The Indian has had plenty of chances, but is 3-0 down.
