I think i jinxed yuan. Stuart has swatted away two of chinas best young players 4-0 in the last two rounds.
Damnit i keep waiting for a young player to really come through and show us something special but its just not happening atm.

i know but i don't think it really holds in general either. i mean being uk-ish didn't help carrington, o'connor, sharav, wells, or duane jones this season in similar situations.

Why is it that the UK players always have the edge in the final examination?
Aside from Ding obvs, and once from Liang...
Yuan is a teenager playing in his first professional semi final against a highly experienced former world champion. Nationality has nothing to do with it.
Plus there are More British players on tour so law of averages definitely favoring the Brits.
Regarding Yuan though it is unfair because it is only his second season as a pro and last season he did beat Fergal O'Brien 10-5 in the 1st round of WC Qualifying and only lost 10-9 to Matthew Stevens and has climbe up in to the top 64 in less than 2 seasons.
lets see where he will be next season.
Not everyone is instant like Ronnie O'Sullivan
it even took Mark Williams 5 years to get to the crucible.

Would be his 3rd ranker with short format.
I wonder if he tailors his training specifically to shorter formats

Indeed. Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view...
