Home Nations Champion

Postby Pink Ball

Let’s create an unofficial title. The top points scorer across the Home Nations series should be referred to as the ‘Home Nations Champion’ or ‘The Champion of Britain and Ireland’.

The roll of honour:

2016/17: Stuart Bingham
2017/18: John Higgins
2018/19: Stuart Bingham

Barry Hearn. He created fools out of all of us. Expecting a player to win all 4 events in one season is like expecting Jesus Christ to return to Earth....

It's a joke of a format, therefore no one can win all 4.
If they had a first to 6 games format, then it might be possible.

I doubt that is even possible. Hearn weighed up the odds and knew it was about 125,000 -1 it could ever happen.

It's a pointless promotion. If the goal is to attract attention to the events, then they (obviously) need a way to extend the suspense past the Northern Ireland, in the (very likely) event that the winner wasn't the guy who won the English Open...

Pretty sure Hearn just wanted the chance to say Million pound prize on offer. Like others have said he knows it's very unlikely it will happen.

I take it simple addition and subtraction was never your strong point, no?

So, you're saying he has had a poor 2019, because he hasn't won a tournament by February?

Firm but fair. <ok>

You are only as good as your last win. Ronnie is therefore terrible in 2019 :emb:

4  David Gilbert      30,000
5  Mark Allen         27,500

8  Tom Ford           20,000

He's in the draw and a rematch for Ronnie against the spaceman.
