At least this is snooker under proper rules affecting players ranks.
Did you not like the shootout then.........you never said.
It's not the Shootout.
It's the ranking event status...

You feel it should carry more points?

Either that, or it should join the UK, Masters, and WSC as part of a new Quadruple Crown.

It's good these ITV tournaments carry ranking points.
All players on Tour have the same chance of qualifying when the season gets underway, and if they do they get rewarded with a chance of winning a ranking event.
I think the ITV tournaments are some of the best Hearn has brought to the game, even if some of them feel a bit too similar. But they have different formats and thats great.

I do like them but think first round losers shouldn’t recieve ranking points

I think they do because they did qualify in the first place. Mind you, in other tournaments, even at the Worlds, the Top 16 get 0 if they lose first round.

I see no reason why prize money necessarily has to translate into ranking points. It's completely within Barry Hearn's power to pay first round losers without those payments being reflected in the rankings...

Highly unlikely but still possible that Ronnie can get kicked out of the top 8 in the one year ranking and not qualify for the Tour Championship. Hence he should made a good run in the Players Championship.
