Marco Fu has had a relapse of his eye condition, and has decided not to play snooker until September, thereby missing the World Championships.
He said part of the decision was the lack of practice available in Hong Kong and the 14-day quarantine to enter the UK. These were all contributing factors.

He can't even get into the UK to undergo an eye test by driving to Barnard castle.
A shame.

That's a real shame. An inform Marco is great to watch (especially with his great watch), hopefully it isn't the last we've seen of him.

One of the reasons why I don't play snooker any more is that I had a bad case of retinopathy, a side-effect of diabetes. I was close to blind for several months. I could have eye haemorrages from climbing the stairs... Fortunately the operations managed to clear it, at the cost of most of my peripheral vision.
So Tim may laugh, but actually it is the case that exercise can cause minor trauma in the eyes, which can exaggerate an existing complaint.
I guess Marco's probably wondering if he still has a career.
