Mark Selby is starting to play well he was just hit by a steam train in the Semis this week and he ran out of frames at the end.

For me if he gets Past the first 2 Rounds he will Win his 5th Title.

It's all subject to change, of course, but Selby's current Quarterfinal opponent is the winner of the Judd/Higgins match in Round 2.

(Yes, that's correct: Judd and Higgins are currently slated to face each other in Round 2...)

Plus, I think he could become the first player to earn 1,000,000 ranking points in a single season.

That's why odds are heavily against him winning it, but with him you never know.

Just hope he does himself justice even if he doesn't win and doesn't go out early.

Won't that make him more determined to win?

A determined Ronnie is a dangerous one. It's when he can't be bothered, and bashes the balls around that things change.

barring something crazy happening in the next few weeks o'sullivan will be pre tournament favourite, marginally ahead of trump and then selby.

Look, can we all just agree that every snooker player who ever lost a match ‘bottled it’.

Sorted. <ok>

Okay at least 20 different players that have "bottled it" at least once with a brief description of the matches.

Yeah, she's had it hard. Poor woman.

Currently watching the 2013 final. Despite his results since, it’s a reminder that Ronnie hasn’t played consistently brilliant snooker for years.

Also a reminder that Barry might be a World Champion now, had he not ended up against that. But he did, and so he isn’t.

Re: 2024 World Championship Countdown

Interesting tidbit about 2013: Mark Selby had won the UK and Masters that season* and was in quest of the single season Triple Crown, before losing to Barry Hawkins 13-10 in the 2nd round after leading 9-6. Barry won 7 of the last 8 frames.

*Ronnie did not play in the UK or Masters that season, before returning from the pig farm to win at the Crucible.
