9th of September - 13th of September in Hong KongThe General Cup is a invitational event that is not part of the WPBSA Main tour but it attracts a good field of players These Days But when it was first staged in 2004 Dominic Dale and Gary Wilson playing on the main tour for the first time was the only Pro player in the draw Dominic Dale reached the final where he lost 6-3 to Issara Kachaiwong.
But in that inaugral event were players that would go on to play on the Pro Tour Mark Allen, Pankaj Advani, Aditya Mehta and Atthasit Mahitthi from Thailand.
The event was not held then until 2009 when Ricky Walden claimed the Title beating Liang Wenbo 6-2 in the Final.
