ronnie still the best player in the world even though he 38

so many players have a mental barrier against him thats why i still expect him to win lots more trophies yet

players can live with him but most when it come to the crunch just cant do it against him and ronnie knows this

Will be interesting to see if Ronnie has anything left in the tank for that one.

Something tells me he may not do that well in the UK Champs, I hope he proves me wrong though.

It was indeed a perfect tournament with the perfect winner. And the ITV coverage was better than the BBC one.
I don't know what the name of the blond television presenter is but she was looking good, definitely better than Hazel. <laugh>

It will be hard with that flatsystem, you need a really strong stamina here.

jojo you didn't post anything during this years World Championships. How do you evaluate Ronnie's achievement of defending the World Title for the first time since 1996 after taking a year off?

But he won't face anyone who can touch him for the first couple of rounds.

What about all the luck Hendry had by playing in a weak era and "getting byes to the quarter finals of every event" ??

Aye right,you obviously did,nt watch much,if any snooker at all during the 90,s.

Weak era,LMAO.

Most of the players have played very weak against Ronnie,most you could give him a bye on numerous occasions,most of the 90,s players would have a chance,if not beat most of the current crop.

The way some ramble on about todays super high standards,it,s as if every match is like that,thats utter drivvel,many of todays matches are mediocre,even very low standard.

Throughout the 90,s you had many many very high standard matches,you also had some not so high standard ones,to try and label the 90,s as a weak era is the BIGGEST garbage you could spout out!. <laugh>

I,d like to congratulate Ronnie on winning this title,if he can maintain this form on a regular basis then he for sure has every chance of beating some of Hendrys records and become the greatest ever snooker player,he still has a long way to go though.

Hendry = Ranking event finals: 57 (36 titles, 21 runner-ups)

Ronnie= Ranking event finals: 36 (25 titles, 11 runner-ups)

At this present moment though,Stephen Hendry is the greatest ever snooker player. :win:

Over and out!. :-D

This will be to Ronnie's advantage.

You're right SO, when's Ronnie's first match?

This UK Champs will be very very stamina draining for all the players, Best of 11s all the way through, with best of 17s semis and Final best of 19.

This Flat draw system in a way brought back some of the old Uk Champs system because now the players will have to play a lot more frames to win a match.

Hearn went too far when he made the UK a flat system like all the others.

I'm going to reserve my judgement until after the tournament but looking at the draw I'd be inclined to agree.

Just when I thought O'Sullivan's World Championship final opponents couldn't get any easier; I have a vision:

World Championship Final 2014: Ronnie O'Sullivan vs Stuart Bingham

Agree Jewel, the player who eventually wins this event will be knackered I feel, mentally drained.

But it's all part of the game I think.

I still think, to change the UK into a best of 11 was a disgrace. It destroyed the reputation of the UK and transformed it somehow into an average ranking tournament.

Oh, but we couldn't possibly have Best of 17s in a Flat Draw format.

I don't think it destroyed it's reputation but it was a downgrade. Before that the UK was the 2nd biggest tournament, now I would say the Masters overtook it. It still is a magnificent tournament with an incredible rich history and arguably the best looking trophy snooker has to offer.

Yeah and the rest of the tournaments Flat Draw, fully agree. <ok>

Uk, Masters and Worlds should always keep their tradition.

One day they will be touching in the Masters format the way it's going, and worst of all the Worlds.

Re: 888casino Champion of Champions Final Weekend Discussion

Yeah, my point is just that for me it's a bigger achievement if someone is winning the UK by playing best of 17 in each round (except the final of course which is best of 19) or best of 11. Maybe I'm too traditional though. I think, a major tournament should have these two sessions in each round.
