Yeah, 5-3 or 5-4 would been surprising but a tad understandable, but 5-1 :dizzy:

I will have to watch a bit of that match on Youtube to see how bad Allen really played.

Postby AC or LT?

Another surprising result is Woollaston losing to O'Connor 5-2, after his run at the CL you'd expect him to be a bit more match sharp.

Also, as much as I love Poomjaeng a 5-1 victory over Cahill's a bit odd (but not entirely unexpected, Cahill also lost his Indian Open qualifier to Wenbo), hopefully Poomy can win his L64 matches against Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon at the IO and Neil Roberson at China (which means we could see him on telly again).

Higgins v Line seems the most interesting of tonights matches.

Just seen the O'Sullivan/Brecel match and Brecel made lots of elementary mistakes. He doesn't seem to be progressing the way he should have.

One question about the match. Was O'Sullivan called for a miss in the second frame when he missed all the reds?

2nd frame? when? didn't see it or maybe wasn't paying attention at the time.

how many reds were on the table?

13 reds left, O'Sullivan was snookered behind the green and missed them all by a long way, then Brecel went for a red in the middle.

Ah I remember, left middle right? he missed it though. But I think the ref did call a miss, Brecel just didnt wanna take it and attemped that red to left middle.

Yes, that's it. I thought Brecel should have taken the miss. Naive choice.

Selby won 5-1 with a break of 90 at the end :) Carter also won 5-1.

And guess which match is the slowest. Lawler v Swail <laugh> Swail currently leads 3-1.

Really hope Lawler comes back in that match.

If so then they'd still be playing by the time the afternoon matches begin lol.

Luca's problems seem psychological rather than technical, it's frustrating for the young man I'm sure. I fear Luca can now only achieve his snooker dreams of a World Championship title with the influence of right psychologist/psychiatrist. :-(

In the short term hopefully he doesn't drop off the tour!

Might not be a disaster, he's still a teenager & is clearly struggling to live up to the expectation some people have for him. A season off the main tour could give him a chance to adjust & come back stronger. Let's not forget Neil Robertson dropped off after first qualifying as a pro, & it hasn't done him any harm. Luca's got a lot of talent & ability, & time is on his side.

Postby AC or LT?

Just looking at the ranking lists and there could be a fair few reasonably well known younger players going off the tour Lyu Haotion, James Cahill, Luca Brecel, Cao Yupeng, Elliot Slessor.

Cahill and Slessor seem the most in danger with losing their IO and CO places.

We're also quite likely to be saying goodbye to Igor (quelle suprise), Robin Hull, Allan Taylor and Alex Borg

FTFY. Didn't happen anyway.

Martin McCrudden must have created some sort of record in terms of consecutive foul points given away in the 4th frame against Carter; 70 points in a row, and 82 in all!
