There was a feature on BBC's One Show last night with Womens No.3 ranked player Rebecca Kenny about sexism in Snooker. She was playing in a league where two of the teams were in clubs that barred women and she couldn't play her teams fixture against them.
Runs from around 7.20 to 15.00 and has a brief comment at the end from Richard Carpenter from The Carpenters.

They should hold their next league fixtures in a kitchen. I'm sure she'd be more than welcome in there.

It would be great if a woman can qualify for the tour as the more press coverage there is will help. I guess some clubs are still "gentleman" clubs where they smoke and drink all day. This will eradicate in time I'm sure.

How long before one of the lower ranked players identifies as a woman in an attempt to take the Women's world championship?
My money is on Joe Swail.

There's an old story about Donald Sutherland going to see White-Stevens in the 1984 Masters and arriving late just in time to see the 147 which was the first frame of Snooker he ever saw. That feature might be the first exposure to Snooker Richard Carpenter ever got and I don't think he got as good an impression as Donald.

My money is on Ronnie.
He'd do anything for ranking points.

The Nugget weighs in with some sense:
TWITTER ATTACK
@SteveSnooker Difficult to get socially retarded committees to see sense!? You’d hope that the league booted them out regardless of the effect it had on the league?

Anyone can be a woman these days. It all depends on how you feel when you get out of bed in the morning.

Nothing wrong with drinking. The smoking is bad though, your clothes smell like rubbish from it.

Yep that’s definitely the worst thing about smoking.

Not to be smug or anything but I have great foresight. We now have 2 women on the tour with more to follow.

Turns out it's being phased out in Australia.
Been a while since I've been in one.
